Starting tomorrow, you may see a massive decline is organic traffic to your website if it isn’t mobile friendly. As announced back in February, Google will start using mobile-friendliness as a search ranking signal from April 21st 2015, making it easier for users to find high quality results optimised for their device.
With more and more users browsing the web on mobile devices, this is an important change as your website may fail to show up in search results if it’s not optimised for the the user’s device. In Google’s own words:
This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results.
You can easily test to see if your website is mobile friendly using Google’s Mobile Friendly Webmaster Tool. If your website isn’t mobile friendly, you should look into making your website responsive. If you’re using WordPress, there are a few handy plugins that will instantly make your website mobile friendly (we recommend WPTouch).
